Barry Dunaway is a veteran of several Yngwie Malmsteen tours, having anchored the bass slot throughout the 1988 "Odyssey" tour (including its historic performances in Moscow and Leningrad) and returning in 1996 to take on bass duties for the "Inspiration" tour. With Facing the Animal, Barry established his bass sound on the album itself, sharing the bass credits with Yngwie. Says Yngwie, "I wanted to play bass on several particular songs for this album, with Barry doing the rest of the songs. He did a really good job of anchoring the bass for this album."

Barry currently resides in St. Augustine, Florida. He divides his time between practicing, teaching (E-Mail Barry), and performing locally (Orlando, St. Augustine, Jacksonville) and nationally with the Voices of Classic Rock. In addition, Barry is working on an album, Lucky Deadman on which he is a veritable "one man band", writing, playing, singing, and recording. The current demo was produced by Scott Whittier and Britt McTammany, who also added several instrumental tracks to the compositions, at DigitalVideoArts in Jacksonville.

Barry was born a baby boomer in St. Petersburg, FL, and traveled with his military family living in Travers City, Michigan, Kodiak, Alaska, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, & Miami , Florida. Barry started his musical career in 1971, playing music with his older brother Don and sister Sharon in the folk group called Chuffa.
